Since 2009, the Triple-A franchise affiliated with the Cleveland Indians is that of changing Columbus Clippers in International League. Between 1995 and 2008, the Buffalo Bisons, champions of the International League in 1998, 2002 and 2004, were affiliated with the Indians. Buffalo was already bound to the Indians during the 1987 season.

Apart from the Kinston Indians, based in North Carolina, four of the five most important teams currently affiliated with the Indians are in Ohio. The signing in 2009 for four seasons with the Columbus Clippers is significant at this level. The objective of the franchise is to strengthen its base of fans in the center of the Ohio1.

The Indians have a network of clubs schools since the beginning of the twentieth siècle2. Among these clubs are the New Orleans Pelicans (1931 and 1934-1939), who play Southern Association and the Toledo Mud Hens (American Association, 1932). Between 1942 and 1946, the highest in the minor leagues is the Double-A. Baltimore, which evolves in International League, is the club-school principal of the organization of Indians.
